Bob brings his extensive experience in asset management to provide guidance on best practices in asset management at scale. He also serves as Chairman of Intentional Media. Prior to this, he was President of Select Equity Group, Inc., which manages more than $24 billion in client funds. Prior to Select Equity, Bob was a Managing Partner, Chief Operating Officer, and a member of the Board of Directors’ of Highbridge Capital Management. Highbridge managed more than $40 billion in AUM. Prior to Highbridge, he was a Managing Director, Chief Financial Officer, and the Treasurer of Robertson Stephens, a San Francisco-based global investment bank.
Henrique oversees 17 AM’s asset management product design. He brings over 20 years of experience as a fund manager focused on analyses and development of investment strategies. His previous portfolios ranked among the very top performers of the industry, measured by annualized returns and volatility as well as track record length. Throughout his career, Henrique has managed, advised and served as director of several investment funds, including funds launched or sponsored by bulge bracket financial institutions such as Deutsche Bank.
Niclas is a recognized international business leader with a twenty-year-long career as a CEO and international investor in Europe and Africa. He has a special focus in sustainable business, engaged in the UN’s pioneering global work with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as a Board Member of the Sustainable Development Solutions Network. Niclas was the CEO of Novamedia Nordics since it´s start, from 2005 to 2015. During Niclas's 10 years as CEO, Novamedia/The Postcode Lottery showed tremendous growth and became the industy’s most profitable company. Presently, Niclas lives in South Africa building a portfolio of investments in industries such as real estate, environmental engineering and finance. He also has over a decade of experience investing for social impact as a leader of the world’s third largest private donor; Novamedia/The Postcode Lottery, distributing US $11 billion.
Founding Partner and CEO
John leads day to day operations and management of 17 AM and also serves as Managing Partner of Intentional Media. Previously, John co-founded Snowden Lane Advisors, a wealth management firm currently with $3.5 billion in assets. He also co-founded Clearbrook Global Advisors, an institutional asset management advisory firm that grew assets to over $20 billion in AUAs. Earlier, John spent 23 years at Merrill Lynch, 15 years working in London and Dubai, then New York where he was Chairman of Latin America and Head of International Product and Marketing. He and his wife live in Princeton, New Jersey, and are most often chasing one of their four daughters or two granddaughters.
Founding Partner and Jordan Country Head
Mary Nazzal-Batayneh is a barrister (English Bar) and the Founder and Chairman of Landmark Hotels Company, Jordan’s first hospitality company. She has been chosen as one of Forbes’ Most Powerful Arab Women for several years and was featured as a Forbes cover story under the headline “Hospitality Meets Humanity.” Mary is a Young Global Leader (YGL) with the World Economic Forum; YGLs are chosen based on their commitment to serving society. Mary has positioned Landmark as a model of private sector engagement with the Sustainable Development Goals and in particular the goals related to gender equality, decent work and economic growth, inclusion, and sustainable agriculture. Mary is a partner and brand ambassador of SEP, the Social Enterprise Project, a social impact company which empowers refugee artists in the Jerash refugee camp. Mary has a BA from Columbia University, and law degrees from SOAS University of London, the College of Law and Inns of Court School of law.
Partner and Head of Advisory
John brings extensive experience to 17 AM in the fields of water and sanitation, as well as refugee issues. Additionally, he supports our advisory offering to family offices, utilizing his experience in philanthropy. He is the Founder and Managing Director of the Refugee Investment Network, the first network of private sector investors and funders dedicated to supporting refugee and host community businesses, entrepreneurs, and livelihoods while working to achieve positive financial returns. He is also the Co-Founder and Managing Partner of the Alight Fund, an investment and financing company for displaced entrepreneurs.
Director of Structured Finance
Fernando provides structured product expertise to the product design team. His international experience at Citigroup and Santander ranges across Investment Management, Corporate Sales and Structuring, Structured Finance, Capital Markets Sales, Multi-Asset Structuring, Advisory and Brokerage. His focus has been on Latin-American Corporates & Institutional clients and Wealth Management, with experience performing roles that require high levels of pressure, adaptability and vision. He is acquainted with multi-cultural environments, has lived in New York, Miami, Mexico City, Milan, São Paulo and Santiago (Chile), and is fluent in Spanish and English with professional working proficiency of Portuguese and intermediate knowledge of Italian. Fernando earned his MBA from Columbia Business School as a graduate of its Value Investing Program, and has a B.A. in Business Administration and Economics from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
Director of Global Development
Timothy works with development organizations across all 17 AM opportunities. He is a critical part of the Africa team, with deep experience and relationships on the continent. He is a Washington, D.C.-based business executive with twenty years of emerging market and public sector experience. As an intrapreneur, he worked at the intersection of business, technology and development and built a new $100M revenue stream at IBM; as a public sector executive and manager, he helped start up the MCC (U.S. government agency); and as a scholar, he directed Africa research at a D.C. think tank.
Director of Operations
Holly oversees the coordination, communication and direction of all initiatives. Formerly, she was the Foundations and International Development Director for the Good Capital Project where she coordinated partnerships, investor relations and outreach. Holly was the Executive Director of Princeton in Africa, an organization committed to creating future leaders committed to Africa. For over thirteen years Holly was actively involved with Planned Parenthood in New Jersey, most recently as Vice Chair of the Board and head of the development committee. Holly has extensive non-profit experience in development work including capital campaigns and strategic planning. She is a graduate of Princeton University where she received an AB in history. She currently lives in New York City with her husband and six children.
SDG Applied Research Associate
Cara is an associate in the SDG Applied Research Unit, where she provides insight into SDG-alignment and performance measurement across our investment strategy and for client advisory. Her most recent position was with a United Nations initiative led by Jeffrey Sachs, for which she traveled between Rwanda, Malaysia, and Colombia coordinating regional Centers of Excellence for the SDGs. She still serves as an advisor for the initiative’s Youth Solutions Hub, a platform to accelerate the impact of young leaders’ nonprofits and business solutions for local action on the SDGs. Previously she founded a social enterprise to counter food insecurity in the Boston area, which continues to operate today. Cara holds a A.B. from Harvard College, where she was on the sailing team.
Director of Investments
Takehiko leads the development, design, and structuring of 17 AM products. He is a seasoned traditional and alternative equity fund manager and research analyst, with over two decades of experience in the global capital markets. He has deep experience across multiple investment management firms including Gabelli Asset Management, DSM Capital Partners, and Bartlett & Company. In this capacity, he has conducted due diligence on over 500 companies worldwide. He recently obtained a Master of Public Health degree from Yale, in order to leverage and apply in-depth experience and skills in finance to issues in global health and economic and social development.
Grace provides strategic insight on areas of public policy and finance. She is pursuing a joint MBA-MPA in The Wharton School and Harvard Kennedy School, focused upon the intersection of the private and public sectors in building innovative financial and social solutions. Previously, she worked with The Good Capital Project and helped initiate 17 Asset Management. She also co-founded an education technology startup which was selected by the Princeton University e-lab t0 join their incubator program. Prior to that, she lived and worked in Jordan for an NGO focused on Syrian refugees. She received her B.A. in Politics from Princeton University and was a member of the U.S. national fencing team.
